Security guards will act as live models during their shifts.

In the collections of museums around the world, we can see human figures in striking poses. They were made by artists who often learned their techniques by drawing people standing still, in specific positions, with one or more sessions. Whether just to exercise or to produce a final work, this is the practice of drawing and painting with a live model. The models enact the form of representation for those holding the pencil and brush in their hands. Historically, it is common for these images to portray white people – men in dignified poses and women usually naked, and few ethnic-racial exceptions. However, we have noticed an effort by museums to expand the repertoire of figures in their collections, encompassing a diversity of human images.

In this scenario, Amador e Jr. Segurança Patrimonial Ltda. presents Live model. Our security guards will serve as models during their work shifts; keeping an eye on the galleries, even though they are surrounded by easels and art materials, offered to those who want to exercise freehand drawing. Like this, we can anticipate and expand the repertoire of images of the institutions for those who wish to hire the company. It is also a play with the images in the collections and the new images created by the visiting public based on the image of the security guards.

This is also an opportunity to offer the public an unprecedented surveillance experience, by using observational drawing of a security guard while he guards the place. In 2014, Fabio Morais invited some people to make observational drawings of performance presentations, instead of live models. Then, the performances were no longer just enjoyed by an observing public, but also drawn by him. Live model – our newest service at Amador e Jr. Segurança Patrimonial Ltda. – takes this example to develop a security tool, especially for the contractor, who will have a guarantee that his space will be protected by a security guard and this same security guard will be watched and registered by the clients.
